The main results achieved in 2024 in terms of wildlife law enforcement are as follows :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. A total of\u00a0202 investigative missions<\/strong>\u00a0were conducted across Gabon, amounting to\u00a0440 fieldwork days<\/strong>. These missions led to the identification and engagement with\u00a0230 suspected wildlife traffickers and major poachers<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. 12 operations<\/strong>\u00a0were carried out as a result of the investigations conducted by AALF. These led to the arrest of 31 wildlife traffickers, along with the seizure of 48 ivory tusks weighing 183 kg.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. The legal department of AALF also provided legal follow-up for\u00a04 additional operations<\/strong>\u00a0initiated by law enforcement agencies and the Ministry of Water and Forests. These involved 7 suspected traffickers implicated in ivory trafficking and elephant poaching, who were arrested with 9 ivory tusks weighing 27 kg.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. In total, these operations led to the\u00a0seizure of 57 ivory tusks<\/strong>, with a\u00a0combined weight of 210 kg<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. 22 of the 31 traffickers<\/strong>\u00a0arrested through AALF\u2019s support were sentenced to\u00a0prison terms ranging from two months to two years<\/strong>.\u00a0One individual received a suspended sentence, and the remaining\u00a08 were either acquitted or had their cases dismissed<\/strong>. Of the 7 other individuals arrested without AALF\u2019s direct involvement, 3 were convicted for illegal ivory trade, receiving prison terms ranging from 180 to 240 days (with an average of 210 days). Two cases are still under investigation, and two others were dismissed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. A total of\u00a0265 media articles<\/strong>\u00a0related to AALF\u2019s results were published, including 180 online, 36 in print media, 29 on television, and 20 on the radio.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
